Dear Members and Followers,
This month's calliarts, is designed to teach and to keep your fingers warm during the last official month of winter it is Penned Roman with Valerie Keevers.
Saturdays 8 August and 12 September 2026.
Penned
Roman is a modern script based on the traditional Roman lettering and
created with a chisel pen. It is fun, penned quickly and usually without
any lines having to be drawn. This allows you to pen freely and tuck
letters into spaces letting the words dance to your rhythm.
Paints discussed briefly for part 2.
Materials. Part 1
Chisel pens any sizes you have. Ink or paints.
Pencil, brushes and water jar. A3 or A4 bleed proof pad. Short quote.
Part 2.
We will develop further the script. Then we will look at using paint colour, mixing correctly, and how colour affects your work.
Materials
Same as above, plus the following paints.
(Which paints are cold and warm will be discussed at end of part 1.)
A cold and a warm blue.
A cold and warm yellow.
A cold and blue red.
A white and a black.
Time: 12.30pm – 4.00pm
