Calligraphy is Go at Calligraphy Southscribes in August.
Yours truly is running the calliarts and full day workshop so I hope to see you at the hall.
Calliarts - As Easy as 1,2,3 - Numbers - 11 August - 1pm to 4pm - Tutor - Cathy Sayer
(Sylvania Community Hall, Canberra Rd, Sylvania - $10 cost)
Often
considered to be the poor cousins of the alphabet, calligraphic numbers are an
important part of the calligraphy process. Numbers are functional and
beautiful. People use them every day, yet when calligraphic hands are studied,
the numerals are often covered quickly. This afternoon we will look at different
numerals and have fun making them as great as the alphabet!
Plus, fine
black biro; and a variety of black fine liner pens (up to and including 0.05)
Pointed nib and Speedball B nib any size
Workshop - Uncial - 18 August - 10am to 4pm - Tutor - Cathy Sayer
(Sylvania Community Hall, Canberra Rd, Sylvania - $45 members, $55 non-members)
In this
workshop we will revisit Uncial which is often associated with the Book of
Kells. This calligraphic hand is a good introduction to calligraphy for
beginners but for the more experienced, we can either work to perfecting your
Uncial or visit some alternatives.
