Dear Members and Followers,
Our last combined Calliarts for 2026 is Batarde with Valerie.
The Batarde script is a generic term
for a cursive writing of mixed Gothic parentage, used for less prestigious
works, which developed into a variety of scripts in their own right. Speed was
important but text had to be impressive so it developed many loops and linking
letters. These scripts covered the Gothic era from the 12th to 16th centuries. We
will work with Batarde, Bastard Secretary and Schwabacher as these covered the
French, English and German versions which are similar but different, giving you
some exciting and quite modern styles for your portfolio of scripts.
- A3 or A4 pad
- Assorted sizes of chisel nibs
- Ink or paint, water jars etc
- Pencil, ruler and eraser
- Words to write
