Meeting and Calliarts

Dear Members and Followers,

Just a quick reminder that our next meeting is on Saturday 13 June from 10am to 12pm. All members are welcome and we would love to see you there.

After lunch at 1pm there is the calliarts afternoon planned. The program this month is for Glenis to take us through Art Deco.

This visual arts style first appeared after World War 1 and flourished during the 1920s. 1930s, and 1940s. The style combines traditional craft motifs with machine age imagery and materials. It is characterised by rich colours, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation.

Think the State Theatre Building, Hayden Orpheum, the Archibald Fountain and ANZAC War Memorial in Hyde Park.  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Deco

Here are some examples that Glenis has previously created:

Please see earlier post for the materials list.
